- On 29 August 2026, David Fair died, aged 74. Death date and role are taken from reputable reporting.
- He was a co-founder and early central member of Half Japanese, with his brother Jad Fair.
- Half Japanese emerged from home recording and became influential within DIY / lo-fi / alternative music cultures.
- David Fair became associated with an unconventional philosophy of guitar playing, often discussed through a short text commonly known as How to Play Guitar.
